Hi Friends! I hope you all are staying warm and cozy this winter. I attended a sign making class at Bexley House last weekend and I had such a good time! Liz Dzurinda and Debbie Godbout are the owners and designers of Bexley House. They sell upcycled furniture, home décor items and gifts. I fell in love with their shop!
We were able to choose from a variety of stencils for our signs. I chose a heart with the words “love”. Valentine’s Day is coming soon and I thought that would be a nice addition to my home office/jewelry studio. Debbie taught the class and people arrived at different times, if the table was full, then people were able to shop while they waited for their turn.
Some people brought their children to participate. I arrived early so I was able to secure a spot right away. I could tell that this is a popular spot, even though I had not heard of it. I met some really nice people and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It felt good to get out of the house.
The weekends are a perfect time for me to get out and explore. Being an empty nester, I have no excuses! Being around people makes you feel good. I can be somewhat of a homebody… I am an introvert – well, an extroverted introvert – so when I am around people, I feel great but I can be alone and I enjoy being alone.
After spending time in Clayton shopping, I noticed that my mood and my spirits were lifted. My creativity was flowing and I was eager to make some jewelry, or make some crafts at home. Those are the things I really enjoy.
My sign turned out really pretty! I love it and Debbie was such a good and patient teacher. After I finished my sign, I took a look around their showroom and I found some really nice home décor items.
I bought a beautiful sign that says Grateful. I think that is going to go in my kitchen. I also bought a little nest that has three moss covered eggs in it! Perfect for me because I’m an empty nester and I have three kids. Lastly, I found a cute metal North Carolina ornament that I plan to display year-round.
The shop had vintage mason jars, beautiful signs with quotes and all sorts of pretty home décor items. Liz was very helpful and answered any questions that I had. She told me that she and Debbie are neighbors as well as friends and they decided to open the shop together. I think it’s a wonderful idea! I will go back for sure.
One customer told me that she has taken other classes there and shops there frequently. I found out about them on Facebook and I’m so glad that I did!
