Hello Friends!
I hope you have your coffee or beverage of choice. If not, pause this video, grab a cup of something good and let’s talk.
I don’t watch a lot of tv. I mainly watch The Voice, The Masked Singer and a little American Idol. I enjoy watching shows like Dancing With The Stars also. Anything singing and dancing and I’m interested. There is a show that is new to me that I really enjoy watching. It’s called Songland. If you haven’t heard of it, Songland is a show where songwriters go before a panel of three producers and sing the song that they have written for a well known artist. The producers critique the song and each producer works with the top three songwriters to bring the song back to the studio for the artist to listen to. The artist then picks a song from those three songs and records the winning song. I love watching the process of seeing how the artist presents the song, how the producers work with the artists to improve the song and how the finished product sounds. Sometimes their changes and suggestions make sense to me and sometimes I don’t agree. Sometimes they change the song alot and the song sounds totally different. Sometimes the song is still the same but better. The songwriters have to be flexible while going through the process.
I watched the show the other night and it was really good. All of the songs were great. The artist was Martina McBride. If you are not familiar with her, she is a country singer. One song was really great but it was very soulful and was not really a fit for her. One young lady sang a song but it was kind of geared towards a younger person so they had a discussion about how they could improve the song and Martina could sing it from a different perspective, and one man sang a song that was just incredible. I have been singing it all week. I learned the words and everything. The songwriter/artist is Jeffrey James and Ryan Tedder produced the song. Martina did not end up choosing Jeffrey James’ song. Instead she chose the young lady’s song and they made just a few word changes so that the song would sound good coming from an older woman’s perspective.
I loved Jeffrey James’ song and think his song is perfect for right now with all that we have going on. I also think that the song wasn’t right for Martina so while I was sad that he didn’t win, I was thinking that Jeffrey should record the song himself. Sometimes the producers tell artists to sing the song themselves. His voice is just perfect for the song.
I want to play the song for you so that we can continue to talk. Our talk will be better if you have heard the song.
Isn’t that a great song!! I’m sorry if it isn’t as clear as it could be. I was playing the song from the YouTube video.
You know, Sometimes our plans don’t turn out as we thought they would. And the goals we set go astray. Sometimes it seems like everything is going wrong. Sometimes it just wasn’t our turn. What I want to say to you today is Don’t Give Up. We don’t always get what we want when we want it. Sometimes the timing is not right. I’ve encouraged you to try something new and just start in the previous episodes. Today I want to tell you that the road to your dreams and goals is not always easy or smooth but Don’t Give Up. When that show went off the air the other night, I was sad that Jeffrey didn’t win. Having a famous artist record your song is such an honor and would really boost someone’s career in a huge way. But it wasn’t his turn. The young lady that won was so happy of course and I was so happy for her. It’s such a huge opportunity. It was her turn. Jeffrey has to go down the road a little further.. A little longer but here is the thing. He doesn’t know what’s around the bend for him. Just being on the show is a big deal and he was able to meet all kinds of people in the industry and be seen on national television. Sometimes a loss is a win. Sometimes you don’t get that job or that contract or that opportunity that you wanted so badly, know that something bigger and better is in store for you. Keep going and keep growing and getting better and better because your turn is coming. Sometimes we have to be flexible and make changes along the way. Sometimes people give up too easily. We get discouraged and we move on to something else. Or just stop. When you do that, you block your blessing. You have to keep on going down the path. Have faith in yourself and know that your turn is coming. That thing that you want is attainable with perseverance and hard work.
Something else I want to talk about is being a hero. Right now we have so many heros… our nurses and doctors on the front lines, our wal-mart employees, fast food employees, janitors, cna’s and food service workers. That person that decided to speak up and speak out against injustice is a hero. That person that gave a dollar or a meal to someone in need is a hero. I could go on and on. Mom’s you are heros too. Have you ever stopped to think about the fact that you are a hero to someone? Mom’s love their children and would lay down their lives for their children, they sacrifice and work hard and try to give their kids a better life than they have had. Many moms raise their kids and never receive acknowledgement for the job well done. Many things that mom’s do go unnoticed. Today, I’m thanking all moms out there. Thank you for all that you do for your families. Give yourself a pat on the back and know that you are loved and appreciated. Thank you for all that you do and have done for your families. Happy Mother’s Day!! Enjoy your day tomorrow!
I have a preview of my Motherhood Collection on my website, angelamonica.com/shop. The full collection launches May 30th. I wanted to launch the collection in time for Mother’s day but that wasn’t possible. Then I thought, everyday is mother’s day and we mothers should be honored everyday and not just one day a year. We are proud, mom’s grandmothers, empty nesters and semi-empty nesters! I’m excited about the collection and I hope you will be too!
Friends, I enjoyed talking with you as I always do. I love you and I’ll talk to you soon!! Bye for now!
